Halloween, custody, and visitation

If you are a co-parent or are worried about your ability to spend time with your child after your divorce has been finalized, you may have all sorts of concerns. For example, you could be worried about how court decisions could affect your child's performance in school or the amount of child support you will be required to pay. However, it is essential to recognize the other ways that you and your child could be affected by the outcome of a custody ruling or your ability to secure visitation rights.

For many parents, birthdays and holidays are an especially important time to be with their children. Parents and children often develop lifelong memories during holidays, including Halloween, where many children go trick-or-treating and attend celebrations. If you were unable to spend time with your child on Halloween and believe that you should have been able to visit them, you may want to look into your options. If successful, you could be able to celebrate Halloween and other holidays with them in the future. However, there are many factors that come into play with child custody and visitation decisions, so it is important to approach your case individually. If you are unable to spend time with your child, there may be other ways you can make things easier. For example, doing your best to communicate with your child's other parent, if possible, could be helpful.

From celebrating holidays to simply spending time with those you love, there are many reasons people pursue custody and visitation rights. Our custody page has more on this area of family law.
